About Royal Enfield Bike Rentals

A shop by the Ram Jhula bridge, fifty bikes, and ten years of watching people ride north.

How This Started

Himanshu started renting bikes out of Swarg Ashram in 2015 with 4 motorcycles and a phone number written on a board. The idea wasn’t complicated: riders kept arriving in Rishikesh wanting to go north and finding either overpriced taxis or bikes with paperwork that wouldn’t survive a checkpost.

Ten years later there are fifty vehicles and the phone number is the same one. +91 81928 45805.

What We Actually Do Differently

We keep the fleet narrow on purpose

Six models. We could stock twenty and we’d know none of them properly. Instead we can tell you how a Himalayan 411 behaves loaded with two people and luggage on the climb out of Sonprayag, because we’ve had that exact bike in that exact place a hundred times.

Every bike is taxi-plated

Self-drive rental in India legally requires a commercial taxi-series registration. It costs more to run and it’s why some shops in this town don’t bother. When a rider gets stopped on the Badrinath road with a white private plate, the fine and the confiscation risk land on the rider, not the shop that rented it. All fifty of our vehicles are correctly plated, insured, and carry current RC, PUC, fitness and permit papers.

Service is scheduled, not reactive

Bikes go in on a calendar. Between rentals, chain, tyres, brakes and lights are checked, and they’re checked again in front of you at handover. The point of doing it in front of you is that you get to disagree.

We tell people not to rent

Regularly. If someone with three months of riding experience wants a Himalayan 450 for Adi Kailash in July, we say so. If a gearless licence turns up wanting a Classic 350, the answer is no. We’d rather lose a booking than read about it later.
